Traditional fish traps, manjabu, are useful tools for catching dinner for a bigger family. For generations, these intricately designed traps have served as a testament to the deep understanding the Bininj hold about their environment and the intricate rhythms of nature. They were easy to use, but the making of manjabu is very time-consumin. Traditionally they were made from bush string, cane or jungle vine.
This artwork has been purchased directly from an Aboriginal artist in Kakadu National Park or Arnhem Land. Warradjan Cultural Centre is committed to supporting artists, their families and the local community.
