There are two words in Kunwok for catfish ngalmakkawarri and ngadjdjlek, however if you are referring to a young catfish, you'd say konjkonj. Catfish is an available food source for the locals all year round, and many say they are often underestimated. Traditionally, Bininj used to spear them at billabongs, rivers and floodwaters.
